The River’s Way - Soundscapes by Jesse Budel
These soundscapes were recorded for environmental sculptor Evette Sunset’s The River’s Way, exhibited at the Murray Bridge Regional Gallery from July 24 to September 20 2015.
This was a sculptural installation in local natural materials, washing through the gallery - an impression of the river’s way - its OWN way, as being ever responsive to and formative of an ancient landscape, and embodying multiple laminar layers of living energies and histories.
In collaboration with Evette, Jesse made recordings at various locations close to Murray Bridge, including Sunnyside Reserve and Mobilong Swamp. These were recomposed into four cyclical soundscapes for the gallery, looping asynchronously to result in an ever evolving and dynamic sonic experience.
This sculpture residency was part of Country Arts SA’s project This Is A River, which placed 10 artists in seven communities and townships that hug South Australia’s stretch of the River Murray. Go to
